Pink Lady Hydration Juice
I hope I’m not giving you all agita with all these juice posts, because I have a confession- my affection for fresh juice has turned into a downright obsession. Over the past week I have gone to bed thinking about the next mornings juice; and once, said, juice is nearing its final sip, I’m already thinking about my next juice creation. Although, I’ve imposed green everything on myself for this detox week; this may not be green but it is ever so good for me- and you!
Admittedly, I’ve always been a smoothie girl, favoring them over juice most days; putting my blender to use and leaving my juicer to collect dust- well not really, but I’m trying to make a point! So this new found obsessions comes as a surprise. Crazier things have happened…
So what makes for a quality detox juice? For me, any juice worth it weight in detoxification gold, comes complete with at least one lemon. Lemons are renowned for their ability to clean the liver; so naturally they must be present in my detox juice.
But I flipped the lid and got all digestion crazy on this juice and finished it with kefir. I was saying to a client recently, that next to coconut oil, kefir is my second favorite food item. Fermented milk, although it sounds off putting, should be in everyone diet. You see, kefir, because already partially digested by the bacteria, doesn’t upset those with lactose intolerance; and, said, bacteria also repopulates the digestive flora in our bellies, which can be lost from various factors including medication, illness and stress. And when digestive flora is not well populated it can lead to constipation, diarrhea, gas and/or bloating- major SAD FACE- just ask someone with any of these afflictions.
And lastly, because it bears repeating, as everywhere in North America is currently under the spell of piercing heat, fresh juice is excellent for staying hydrated; with people being hospitalized for heat exhaustion and dehydration, you’d be wise to sip on.
Between the peaches, lemon, kale, raspberries and kefir, this smoothie is sweet, sweet detoxification.
Stay clean and stay hydrated my friends!
