Cooking Tip~ Cooking With Coconut Oil
It’s no secret that I love all things coconut; from coconut sugar to coconut oil, and everything in between. And although coconut sugar is the flavor of caramel, coconut oil can be rather bossy when it comes to the flavor department. But the benefits of coconut oil are vast; ranging from a natural antibacterial moisturizer, rumored Alzheimer’s protection to smoothie and cooking essential. So today’s cooking tip shows you how to reap the benefits of cooking with coconut oil, without having your dishes manhandled by the aroma.
When cooking with coconut oil, cut half the amount of oil (coconut or other) required with a neutral oil, such as grape seed; this will reduce the amount of coconut flavor dramatically. And to supercharge your dishes with healthy fats, cut half the amount of coconut oil with olive oil; this will serve two purposes. 1) Raise the smoke point of the olive oil and 2) again, allow you to reap the laundry list of health benefits associated with consuming and cooking with coconut oil and olive oil.
Do you find coconut oil too aromatic, or just right? I’d love to know!
